INTERNET AND MULTIMEDIA WEEK 6

In the last week, we received a very especial seminar about Technologic resources. For this special class, Teacher Wilma Suarez, and our guest Teacher Gabriela Lopez prepared an interesting power point presentation with some points of interest to develop in class. In this part we checked some websites for the ESL class. In the presentation they said that Internet can provide us a lot of tools in order to help us developing our lesson plans in a better and organize way. Actually, with Facebook, twitter, you tube, Google, etc we can improve our learning process in different aspects. For example facebook is not only to see lots of photographs and play on line games, we can use this tool in order to practice our target language with people from another country chatting or with a video conference. Another important website is you tube, because here we can find millions and millions of videos about everything, but in this case we have to use a few of them related with the topic that we are learning.

INTERNET AND MULTIMEDIA WEEK 5

Actually, we have a lot of interesting and useful software’s to do any kind of activity. In this week we continued with the use of diiggo account creating groups for discussion about any kind of controversial issues. We I love listening to music almost all the time. I love go the Gym everyday or as much as I can. The teacher suggested that we had to create an account in http://www.britishcouncil.org in order to receive information, teaching tips from others teacher and share knowledge and experiences with them. In this web site we can find a lot of information related with Teaching English, grammar explanations, special links and  things like that. I consider that using technology everything is practical, for this reason I learned this practicing on the computer, surfing on the net and asking questions. I will use this knowledge now and in the future. Now because when I want to get some extra info about anything, the only thing that I have to do is go to the previous link  or open my account on British council.

Drop Box

The most important thing that I learned during this week is about the use of Dropbox.It is a free limited  that let us bring all our photos documents, and documents in an organize way.In my persnal opinion i can say that  we can get a lot os benefits using this tool.As i mention before we can get our information ready and available anywhere in the world.This tool give us 2 GB of free space to save our information.For this semester for Internet and Multimedia classes we have to save everything in this page:https://www.dropbox.com.As a final point I will use Drop box to save my important information especially for my english classes.

The last thing that we learned was about a special webpage to improve our four main skills. This page is http://www.esl-lab.com/. This is a very interesting and organize website for me because there are a lot of exercises from beginners to advanced levels. There are some sound files, quizzes, activities to develop or to improve Listening comprehension, reading, speaking and writing. That is amazing website; I will use it everyday especially in order to improve listening skills

INTERNET AND MULTIMEDIA WEEK 4

It was for me the best informatic tool that our Teacher Wilma teaches us how to use in a better way. I consider that diggo permit us to manage websites in a very organize way. As we can notice in the previous weeks we have a lot of websites with different kind of information but only some of them are really reliable, safe and useful for our educational propose. This tool allows us to classify and organize our information according to categories. For example, with our previous knowledge about evaluating websites according of the rules that we learned, we could place different websites in our diggo account. 

Firstable I had to create a diigo account.I was really easy the only thing that i had to do was; go to http://www.diigo.com, and click on:

After that we had to follow the registration process:

After this process we can start to use our diggo account clicking on;

and  typing our  information  in this window:

And that’s all, we can start working in our diggo account. The first thing that we learned was how to add bookmarks.The Teacher said that we have to use internet explorer. The teacher said that we must use this navegador because the application needs the option ‘’favoritos’’ .

I learned how to use this tool practicing at least one time per day, adding information ‘’websites’’ and Reading the manual that for me helps a lot.

I will use this tool in the future when I need to find out information about any specific topic that related to language teaching .Also with this program won´t waste time searching reliables websites .I will have a select group of websites with and reliable information for my benefit.

INTERNET AND MULTIMEDIA WEEK 3 

In this week we continue with the explanation about ‘’Plagiarism’’.This is a very extensive topic because it Involves many bad things.Firstable, plagiarism is a crime committed for a lot of people every day I almost all parts of the world. In our country this crime doesn’t have a penalty, since we are a children we commit plagiarism because we use someone else’s information, and we forget to mention the source, where the information comes from. This situation continues happening until now. Actually with technology we are able to access without problem to any kind of information from all parts of the world, we can download this information and we can copy and paste, but this is not the idea. We can use a lot of information sources in other to do a good essay, composition, research paper or something like that. I mean that we can use every single information that we find, but the idea is to think, reflect and after that make our own conclusions about it. We have millions of ways to use in a good way the information. I learned how to avoid this kid of electronic crime, only I have to follow a set of rules in different website that Teacher Wilma provides us. I will use these knowledge in my professional life every day when I have to do my Essays, Compositions, Researches, Homework, etc.And I think that is will be very useful when I have to do my final thesis.As a final point I am learning how to use the APA style to avoid plagiarism.

In the second week, we continued with the use of the platform. There are a lot of new things to learn. First, we learned to enter to Virtual class, we had to follow these steps:

1.- Enter to Uta.edu.ec

2.- Click in Aula virtual

3.- Choose course categories (‘’facultad de ciencias humanas’’)

4.-Choose the subcategory (In this case ‘’Carrera de Idiomas’’)  

5.-Click in ‘’Quinto Semestre’’

6. - Click in INTERNET AND MULTIMEDIA RESOURCES

7.-Finally we have to log in typing our ID number and our password

After this process we started to use the platform. In the last class we learned how to participate in a forum discussion. It is really important to know about this topic because there are a lot of forums on the web about different topics such as: Politics, technology, environment, sports, music and so o. I think that is really important because in a forum we can express our personal Ideas. Also can interact with people from other countries. It is really important for me to know about different points of view based on real information of course, I mean investigations, scientific studies, etc. All of us participated in a Forum discussion that Teacher Wilma wrote on the platform about evaluating websites. I learned how to use this technologic tool and I will use it in different forums on the internet about any kind of topic as I mentioned before.
